Services Coming This June:

Recycling is an essential part of preserving our environment and conserving resources. At Industrial Precious Metals, we are dedicated to providing responsible and efficient recycling services for lithium-ion batteries. We understand the environmental impacts of lithium-ion battery disposal and strive to ensure that these materials are recycled properly. By repurposing used batteries, we can prevent hazardous materials from entering landfills and reduce the need for new raw materials.

Category #1: Laptop, Tablet, Cellphone

Category 1 of Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling is the collection and recycling of cells from consumer electronic devices. This includes polymer, prismatic, or cylindrical cells that are used in laptops, tablets, and cellphones.

Category #2: Other Electronics

Category 2 of Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling includes a vast array of batteries, from modems, digital cameras, and hand-held scanners to any polymer cells that are not in Category 1, (laptops, tablets, and cellphones).

Category #3: LCO Batteries With Casing

Category #3 of Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling includes LCO (cobalt based) batteries with additional casing such as power banks, external batteries and mixed small format cells, or batteries epoxied to outer casings.

Does not include entire electronic devices (UN3481) – lithium-ion batteries only (UN3480).

Rate Card Category #4: Mixed Consumer Power Packs

Category #4 includes household batteries (power tools, vacuums), and e-mobility devices which are heavier than other electronics and are high in nickel content.

– Batteries must be lithium-ion.

Category #6:

Large format packs typically require dismantling due to extra components and casing. Typically used in transportation (EVs), energy storage, and backup power systems.
– Category #6 NMC/NCA packs are nickel/cobalt based and commonly found in EVs.

Category #7

Typically used in transportation (EVs), energy storage, and backup power systems.
– Category #7 NMC/NCA modules are nickel and cobalt based and commonly found in EVs and ESS.

Category #8

Cells come in various formats:
Cylindrical, pouch/polymer, prismatic.
– Category #8 NMC/NCA cells are nickel and cobalt based and commonly found found in EVs and ESS.

Category #9: Large Format Packs

– Category #9 LFP/LMO packs are iron based commonly found in UPS, material handling, and e-buses.

Category #10: Modules

– Category #10 LFP/LMO modules are iron based commonly found in UPS, ESS, material handling, and e-buses.

Category #11: Cells

– Category #11 LFP/LMO cells are iron based and commonly found in UPS, ESS, material handling, an e-buses.

Vape Products

Rules & Regulations:

USA:
Nicotine and cannabis vaping products are classified as a a controlled substance in the US and can’t be recycled. Therefore, they can only be recycled if batteries are completely removed from the device.
Category:
In the USA, vape products (vape casing & battery only) will fall under Category #3

Lithium Primary

– Primary batteries are defined at single use, non-rechargeable batteries.
– Common formats are cylindrical cells (right) and button/coin cells (left)
– Button/Coin batteries must be taped for recycling to prevent explosive reactions due to overloading from contact (bottom left)

Non-Conforming Primary Batteries

We are currently accepting most lithium primary batteries; however, we cannot accept:
– Lithium thionyl chloride batteries (two batteries on the left)
– Sulfuryl chloride batteries
– Those containing mercury (denoted by an M or N lie the battery on the right)

We can accept for a fee:

Item CategoryUSD/lb
9. Large format packs – LFP/LMO cathode$1.50
10. Modules – LFP/LMO cathode$1.10
11. Cells – LFP/LMO cathode$0.95
